BIOS ,, Basic Input/Output System


 
What is BIOS ?


 
The BIOS is software built into the computer, the BIOS is the first software that run when the pc turned on (boot firmware). The BIOS first job is power-on-self-test which initializes and identifies system devices (CPU, Keyboard, RAM  ...etc).

 

How to Access the BIOS Setup Utility :
 

-         Turn on the pc , or restart

-         Wait for entering setup message which will tell which key to press , it is various from pc to pc .

-         Here are some messages that will appear to tell the user which key to press

o   Press [key] to enter setup

o   Setup: [key]

o   Enter BIOS by pressing [key]

o   Press [key] to enter BIOS setup

o   Press [key] to access BIOS

o   Press [key] to access system configuration

-         Click the key quickly to enter the BIOS

 

Change BIOS settings:

 

Once you enter the BIOS settings, use arrows and tab key to move.

Exiting and saving, use ESC key.
 

Configure boot order:
 

-         Enter the BOIS by clicking the right key.

-         Look for boot menu and navigate to boot driver priority or sequence.

-         Find the hard drive in list , the drives in the top will boot first

    

Configure Password:
 

-         Enter the BOIS by clicking the correct key.

-         Navigate the security tab and click on system password

-         Change the password and exit by pressing ESC

 

Configure Time/Date:
 

-         Access the BOIS

-         Navigate the system tab

-         Choose  Date/Time 

-         Change the time and date then save and exit by pressing ESC

 

 

Configure Drive Settings:
 
 

 
-         Access the BIOS.

-         Navigate the drives tab.

-         Choose the drive that needs change.

-         Change the setting then save and exit by pressing ESC.
